Red Barn’s Heritage Weis: Best Bandaged Cheddar in the World

Red Barn Family Farms located in Appleton, Wisconsin can now say it’s Heritage Weis line is the best bandaged cheddar in the world!

The 2012 World Champion Cheese Contest took place March 5-7 in Madison, WI. A new record was set with over 2,500 entries. Eighty cheese categories awarded first, second and third place with Wisconsin claiming 88 cheese awards in total (30 first place winners!) The next U.S. state was New York with 19 total awards. It’s safe to say, Wisconsin is still the Cheese Capital of the United States!

Among the many great Wisconsin cheeses, Red Barn’s Heritage Weis Cheddars are worthy of special mention. Their bandaged cheddars took first, second and third place in the Mild Bandaged Cheddar category and first and second in the Sharp Bandaged Cheddar category. If you haven’t had a chance to experience Heritage Weis, let me tell you a little bit about it. Heritage Weis is a full-cream white cheddar, cloth-wrapped, and paraffin-dipped. It is made with rBGH-Free Wisconsin milk and Red Barn is certified by the American Humane Association insuring that the cows are healthy and happy.
